What exactly is a seat?+
A seat is one paid member — an admin, manager, or member. Pricing is per seat ($7 per seat on Pro). Guests never take a seat, and a pending invite holds a seat until it is accepted or revoked.
How do guest seats work?+
There are two kinds of guest. Viewer guests are read-only — unlimited and free on every plan. Editor guests can comment and edit; each seat unlocks 5 of them on Pro (1 per seat on Free), so you can invite clients and contractors to collaborate without buying full seats.
Is there really a free plan?+
Yes. Free is free forever for teams up to 6 — no credit card, no trial clock. Upgrade only when you outgrow it.
How does the Pro free trial work?+
Every workspace can try Pro free for 14 days — full access, no credit card. When the trial ends you pick a plan; if you stay on Free you keep everything, the workspace just returns to Free limits. Your data is never deleted.
What creative tools do I get on Free?+
Free includes 1 doc page and 1 whiteboard. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited pages and whiteboards.
How does per-seat billing work?+
You pay for the members who actually use dotby. Add or remove seats anytime; we prorate the difference automatically. Guests never count as a paid seat.
Can I change plans later?+
Anytime, in two clicks. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of your billing period.
What do I save by paying annually?+
Annual billing is about two months free versus paying month to month.
Is my data secure?+
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on every plan. Sign in with Google, Apple, email code, password, or a passkey on the web, and manage access with admin, manager, member, and guest roles.
